The legend of Groundhog Day is based on an old Scottish couplet: “If Candlemas Day is bright and clear, there’ll be two winters in the year.”
Every February 2, people gather at Gobbler’s Knob, a wooded knoll just outside of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Residents contend that the groundhog has never been wrong.
The ceremony in Punxsutawney was held in secret until 1966, and only Phil’s prediction was revealed to the public. Since then, Phil’s fearless forecast has been a national media event.
The groundhog comes out of his electrically heated burrow, looks for his shadow and utters his prediction to a Groundhog Club representative in “groundhogese.” The representative then translates the prediction for the general public.
If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, it means spring is just around the corner.
Approximately 90% of the time, Phil sees his shadow.
Phil started making predictions in 1887 and has become an American institution.

3. According to the funny website groundhog.org, there’s a legend that during Prohibition, Phil threatened to impose 60 weeks of winter on the community if he wasn’t allowed a drink.
4. In the years following the release of Groundhog Day, a 1993 film starring Bill Murray, crowds numbering as high as 30,000 have visited Gobbler’s Knob, a tiny hill in Punxsutawney where the ceremony takes place.

Men and women are really different in many aspects: the way of thinking, their needs, expectations.
For example, gifts mean a lot to women, but we can’t say the same thing about men. A woman knows how to ”read” the message that a gift is giving, but men doesn’t pay too much attention and importance to a gift.
So, choosing a right gift for a woman can be very difficult. The right gift tells her you’re thoughtful, observant and you really understand her, but the wrong one can tell her just the opposite. Any gift that says you love her, that you cherish her, know her, is pretty safe. What happens if your gift doesn’t transmit your real feelings for her?
A gift worth more than a thousands words for a woman. Not many of us, men, know which a bad gift for a woman is. In order to not surprise her negative with your gift, here are some gifts you should avoid buying her:
1. Insult gifts:
-Awful flowers – for women flowers have a big importance and that’s why you have to realize the difference between good flowers and bad ones; if you don’t know anything about flowers, you may ask a female florist to help you choose the right bouquet for your girlfriend; you don’t want to go there with some flowers you may give to her grandmother, don’t you?
-A cheap perfume – no matter how fancy it looks, you can’t fool her; women usually know many things about the beauty products, perfumes, and which the best are
-Lingerie – is a risky bet; a lingerie made of flannel will be definitely not on her taste; you have to choose the correct size, the right style for her; you have to choose something that she likes and not what you’d like her to wear; if you didn’t choose the right size, the message she will understand is or that she is too fat, or that you are insinuating she needs a breast enlargements; so, forget it
-Wrinkle cream – even if she does need it, you are not the right person to buy it; let her do it; you will make her feel old by bringing this
-Socks – are considered the most offensive and disappointing gift; most people are happy to buy their own socks; so it’s not a good idea to choose
-Laser hair removal – even if you are tired of her mustache or stubbly legs, don’t buy such a thing; maybe she will buy herself one from her own initiative
2. Gifts that require work:
-Cooking utensils – the message that she will understand from this gift is that her place is in the kitchen; a cookbook – might be thinking that you hate her cooking; if you want to encourage her to cook more you’d better make her some positive compliments; praise the meals she does and she will be more likely to take more of an interest in the culinary arts
-Cleaning products – as vacuum cleaners, mops, dusters, oven cleaner or other household cleaning products; she will wonder if that you consider that her place is dirty or what ; also she will understand that you see her more as a maid and not your partner
3. Things that make her feel bad about herself:
-Membership to a diet program – even if she told you that she would like to join one, it is not a good gift; she might think that you consider she is not beautiful anymore until she won’t be lose weight
-Exercise equipment – it is an unpleasant way to tell her she’s fat; you’d better ask her to join you at some activities such as cycling, hiking or jogging; say her that you want to do it for yourself and don’t want to go alone; choose an activity that you think she would like and doesn’t need an expensive equipment
-Clothes – again you may choose the wrong size, and make her feel bad; anyway, even if you have impeccable taste, clothes are a woman pleasure
4. Totally NO gifts:
-A pet – not everybody is glad to get a pet as gift, because to raise a pet involves a lot of responsibility, much work; is she said that she likes dogs that not necessarily means that she wants one; if she decides to buy a pet, let her choose one and buy herself
-A gift for yourself – like a golf set or a playstation; it will be a selfish fact; gift should be focused on what she wants and not what you want; don’t assume that you have the same interest, because even if she stay and watch football games with you this doesn’t mean that she wants to have soccer ball
5. Nothing
-Do not believe when she says that she doesn’t need anything, because this is not true; she said this but she is expecting to receive something from you; if you appear there without a gift, you may see on her face that she will be disappointed and upset
I wish you good luck in choosing the right gift for your girlfriend and remember that you have to give her something that makes her feel special and loved; so, be thoughtful about it.

I have noticed lately the traffic to my blog which is appreciated, it is nice to have visitors stopping by, which makes it worthwhile. Finding and locating content to post and not be repetitive is a challenge. If you own a blog you know what i am talking about. I am not a pro blogger. I am not a writer. I do not use software to help me. It is just me on the keyboard. So please bare with me as i learn this setup more, thank you!
Looking over my blog and finding a few things out of order ,does aggravate me. I am learning to use this setup as i go and once i find those rebellious sections i shall fix them.:) Oh yes, i shall hunt them down and put them in line and show them who is the boss. My persistence is unmatched and you sections that are out of order i shall win this battle.

Speed Up PC Performance – New Easy Ways to Boost PC Performance

Here are a few easy ways, little sneaky tricks you can do right now to speed up your PC. Ready?
Step one: Delete and destroy unwanted and unused applications. This is so overlooked, it’s not even funny. There’s really no need a lot of the time to get a new computer: or what-not when simple things like emptying out your old programs could do the trick. Simply go into your Start Menu and then Control Panel. Then, go on over to “Add and Remove Programs”. This should significantly speed up your PC.
Step Two: Another nifty trick you can do to speed up your computer is to get rid of all your desktop clutter or junk. Files, folders, pics, data, anything that is on your PC desktop that is unused, just delete it. Make sure that you get all your unused files, either in your desktop and also over in your temporary files (just search for the folder name). This way, all those unused files will be terminated and your PC will be a ton faster. Cool, right? See, this was not that hard, not hard at all. Next we go to another time-saver…
Step Three: So, to save yourself from repeating the desktop clutter process all over again, make a new folder for all the things that must live on your desktop, and then add those files to that folder. Only have one folder or so on your PC desktop, no more than two at the most.. This way, when you reboot or start up your computer for the first time, it will boot up a lot faster. See all those unused files slowed your computer way, way down. And we all know that ’s not cool, right? Right.
If you make this one change, you’ll probably feel a lot less stress weighing on you too, since your not looking down at your desktop an seeing a bunch of junk, OK?
Step Four: So, after you have deleted and destroyed unneeded files, and have cleaned up your desktop, what else can you do to get a faster PC? Well, here a are a few more tips…Go into your Start Menu and look up your Accessories, Systems and Tools. Pick pretty much any option in there to clean up your PC.
Step Five: Run a free anti-virus program like AVG. AVG is awesome because it’s free of charge and it doesn’t slow your computer way down like Norton Anti-virus does. Just go to Google and search for AVG, it is free and awesome.
Or you can use another free tool that you find-just make sure others recommend it or do you due diligence. Following thees five steps should speed your computer up quite nicely, OK?

Everyone loves music, but how do you find lyrics? There are many sites on the internet that provide them. I have a question from a reader on how certain sections of the blog get there. simply it is in the layout. Using Word Press and having my blog hosted, i can choose a theme, and with each one chosen, it will layout the sections in various areas. As for the technical side of it, i am not well versed in Css or Html, but i do know some. My suggestion is to look online at various themes and decide which code you can use, if able to, and try that code in your blog if you have control over the code.
I like having not to rearrange sections of my blog as the theme does all the work. I am happy to pick the look and feel and run with the chosen pick.
How much time do you spend surfing the internet and Social sites? More then an hour? Do you play games online? Chat? I spend a few more hours probably then i should, but i always find time to do other activities. You have to take a break Occasionally and get up and move and focus on something, take a jog, watch a movie, a walk, watch TV.

I think i am correct in thinking we all spend too much time online. I mean you can order groceries from, visit places virtually, if there is nothing on TV, you can watch videos on YOUTUBE, chat with friends on MySpace, Facebook,Yahoo,MSN , Paltalk. Broadcast your own show on Blogtv, or Ustream, play multiplayer games online with people from around the world and a variety of other fun activities. More and more it is becoming not healthy for us. Even with the tools, information and everything online, how much exercise and time away from the keyboard are you getting?
When i was young i had an Atari and a pool, 3 and 4 wheelers,went skating, to movies, and i spent alot of time riding Bycycles making ramps and playing Evel knievel and i missed alot of trees and missed out on broken bones, thankfully. I had alot of activities to keep the boredom at bay. Today, children spend more time online,playing video games, watching Tv and are not getting enough exercise.
It may be a good idea to schedule activities outside of the house. Anything to get everyone moving and playing. Whatever the season there is always something you can find to do. Schedule a certain amount of time for the kids, and make them get off the “inside” toys and go outside and play with “outside” toys.
The world according to one news report says we Americans are fat, lazy and bow to the all mighty dollar. this is not true and they assume and hate on us. Why hate us? Many great survival stories are coming out of that disaster and it is good to hear and see. Watching the news coverage of all the events, i am amazed at the help their receiving and all the people who are coming forward to help
them in their time of need. Some of them may not realize that in some areas of America, the poor families are even helping and giving with their hearts and donating what they can. That says a lot about the United States. Suffice to say in America, despite all that happens, when another person or country needs help, we are there.
I am sure we will continue to do what we can for the good of all people around the world. We all want to live in peace
and to survive and be happy. If i had anything to say to the Haitians, it would be: You will get through this. In your time of trouble and suffering, you may not think that life will become better for you, it will. Don’t give up , America is with you.
