Romance Novels Featuring Asian Men and Black Women

Now here’s something you don’t see often: romance novels that feature Asian men and black women couplings!  To be honest, I didn’t even know there was such an interracial combination — it’s simply never occurred to me, and I live in a major cosmopolitan city (okay, so it’s a burnt-out part of Crooklyn — but still).

So anyway these are the romance novels that I’ve come across while actually looking into something else altogether.  That’s what I love about surfing online; you never know what you’ll find!  So anyway, I found these couple of titles that seem to be making the pre-release promotional tour on various sites: Playaz and Kickin’ It.

Now at first I was like, uh, okay, not very imaginative, but then I chilled out about it and thought, aw, come on, they’re just romance novels anyway, which I wasn’t even looking for in the first place.  So I decided to cut them some slack.  I kept reading (the promotional materials, not the books) and became intrigued.  Apparently there’re some sistas out there who’re all into Asian guys!  I must admit to feeling kinda embarrassed to never have noticed, and I’ve been surfing the web for years now.  And so anyway the more I look into this new thing the more I got curious ’cause nobody just wakes up one day and decides, okay, I’m going to write a bunch of romances about this fetish I’ve got and hope people will enjoy reading about it!

But that’s not the case at all.  After contacting the author via her website, I learned more than I ever did just reading second-hand reports.  And she was really chill and even let me sample her first two books!  Yeah, those two I’d mentioned earlier, and you know what?  They warn’t half as corny as I’d expected and I’m not even bothered by the titles no more.  It’s all real cool, and I’m so glad to have made some effort to learn instead of just making assumptions all the time!

So like I said these romances got Asian men and black sistas getting their groove on with each other, and that’s just all brand new to me so right there I was kinda hooked.  And to my surprise these books read real smooth, not like the urban fiction I’m used to and still like very much but very good in a different way.  Sorry I can’t quite explain it with what little time I have left to compose this little missive but trust me, if you like romance you will love these books.  They are that good.  And now I’m looking forward to all her stuff!

Oh, her name?  Aminka Ozmun.  You go, girl!
